Konoba Bracera is the oldest restaurant in Rijeka — and it still cooks like it has something to prove.
Tucked into Kružna ulica, Bracera began as a neighbourhood konoba — the kind of place where the city's fishermen, merchants, and storytellers pulled up a chair and stayed longer than they planned. The room still holds that gravity. Stone walls, low light, the crackle of two wood-fired ovens working in tandem. Over the decades the menu grew honest and wide: Neapolitan-spirited pizzas share the table with beef tartare prepared tableside, veal shank braised until it gives, and a steak finished with duck fat and shaved truffle that has no business being this good in an alleyway. The wine list leans Croatian — Plavac Mali, Malvazija, the producers you haven't heard of yet. Service is direct, the way Rijeka likes it. We open at ten and we mean it.

What are your opening hours?
We are open every day of the week, Monday through Sunday, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM. No days off — the ovens are always lit.
Is it really the oldest restaurant in Rijeka?
That is what we say, and nobody has argued convincingly otherwise. The walls have been here a long time. Come and feel it for yourself.
Is the menu only pizza?
Pizza is where most guests start. But the menu runs deep: beef tartare, veal shank, steak with duck fat and truffle, grilled burgers, pasta, salads. There is always a reason to stay for another course.
